1. Within the summer vacation ,what did you do? Any impressive things happened to you?
2.By the time this semester began, I watched the G20 evening gala, which was fabulous! Have you guys watched it? How do you find it?

Actually ,I didn’t know much about the G20 before this time. And by this opportunity, we can know more about this international summit.

A general introduction of the G20
The G20 (or G-20 or Group of Twenty) is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies. It was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability. It seeks to address issues that go beyond the responsibilities of any one organization. The G20 heads of government or heads of state have periodically conferred at summits since their initial meeting in 2008, and the group also hosts separate meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors. The members include 19 individual countries—Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States—along with the European Union (EU). The EU is represented by the European Commission and by the European Central Bank. Collectively, the G20 economies account for around 85% of the gross world product (GWP), 80% of world trade , and two-thirds of the world population. Rita

With the G20 growing in stature after its inaugural leaders&`& summit in 2008, its leaders announced on 25 September 2009 that the group would replace the G8 as the main economic council of wealthy nations. Since its inception, the G20&`&s membership policies have been criticized by numerous intellectuals, and its summits have been a focus for major protests by anti-globalists, nationalists and others.

The heads of the G20 nations met semi-annually at G20 summits between 2009 and 2010. Since the November 2011 Cannes summit, all G20 summits have been held annually. Leo
2016 G20 Leaders summit in Hangzhou ,China
The 2016 G20 summit was held in Hangzhou , Zhejiang province on September 4th and 5th.The themes of it are “4i”s—innovative,invigorated,interconnected and inclusive.G20 members are determined to point out the direction and chart the path for the world economy.

"We share the view that the world economic recovery remains weak, weighed down by insufficient drivers of growth and negative impact of regional and international hot-spots and global challenges," President Xi Jinping said. It is crucial to maintain peace and stability and foster an enabling environment for world economic development. Echo

G20 members believe that addressing the risks and challenges to today&`&s world economy requires multi-pronged solution to tackle both the symptoms and the root causes. This will send a strong signal of G20&`&s commitment to global growth, and will go a long way to shoring up market confidence and ensuring stability of global financial markets.

The summit has injected fresh spirit into the effort to address the challenges of the global economy, and the next task for the leaders is to ensure the implementation of the Hangzhou consensus, economic leaders and experts said. Rita

The summit released a statement in which the leaders agreed on a series of action plans to implement their growth strategies covering a wide range of policy areas.
In the statement, the leaders pledged to work together to pursue innovation-driven growth, to improve productivity, trade and investment, and to reduce overcapacity in the steel sector, which it says is a global problem requiring an effort by all.

The leaders also promised to unleash growth potential by supporting a digital economy, enhancing structural reforms, improving the resilience of the global financial system and promoting inclusive growth on the basis of mutual benefit. Iris
The evening gala by West Lake
In the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou, leaders and other guests from the Group of 20 (G20) major economies were welcomed with a banquet and an evening gala.
Before the banquet, President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan greeted the honored guests at the entry of a hotel by the side of the West Lake.
While proposing a toast at the banquet, Xi assimilated the G20 platform to a bridge of friendship, cooperation and the future.
After the banquet, the guests enjoyed a feast of classic Chinese music, folk dance, traditional songs and ballet performance -- a blend of East and West cultures. Echo

The performance, directed by famed Chinese director Zhang Yimou, was staged with the glowing West Lake in the background. Through a remarkable feat of engineering, the platform was centimeters below the surface of the lake and the performers seemed to be treading the water.
This gala is elegantly Chinese-featured while combining world classic artistic elements. Some Chinese traditional tales ,music and poems were displayed beautifully on the stage of water and under the dark sky. Such performance with poetry vividly explained the English name of this gala ,”Hangzhou is the most sweet”. Leo

Being a host of such an important international summit shows the promoted national status of China and the great power that China holds in the global economy. We are so proud of being Chinese and believe that after this time ,foreigners will have a refreshed image of China and find that Hangzhou is truly unforgettable and sweet. We also hope that the issues promoted and discussed in this summit can be taken actions to, making the world step towards a place with better economic , political and ecological environment.
