The 2016 Asian Fencing Championships in Wuxi saw winners from China and Japan on Sunday. Japan's Satoru Uyama claimed victory over South Korea's Jung Jin-sun to clinch the men's saber final; and the countries first gold in this tournament. and for China, Shao Yaqi beat her opponent, Kim Ji-Yeon of South Korea, with a 45-42 to take the Women's saber final. This is a big win for the young Chinese player as her opponent, Kim, won gold in the London Olympic games in 2012. Shao commented on her motivation after the match. "I told myself that I cannot give up, as you know we are competing at Wuxi on our homeland. So I need to fight with my best effort, and I did it. We kept reminding ourselves that we cannot give up and we need to fight with our best in every move and action." Despite the days success for Japan and China, South Korea is still on top in the tournament standings with 6 golds and 15 medals overall. In second is China with 2 golds and 11 overall, third is Japan, who recently received their first gold and has 7 medals overall.
